Prakruthi Amar Kumar, PhD

Postdoctoral Scholar

Prakruthi is a postdoctoral scholar in the lab. Dr. Amar Kumar received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Dulin. Her dissertation work in preclinical spinal cord injury research was focused on using chemogenetic tools to attenuate neuropathic pain and improve long-term outcomes following injury. In the Ferguson lab, Prakruthi is passionate about applying this knowledge and pursuing clinical spinal cord injury, and pain research. She also performs clinical data analysis by working as a member of the Core Center for Patient-centric Mechanistic Phenotyping in Chronic Low Back Pain (UCSF REACH). Outside of research, Prakruthi is a trained vocalist in Indian classical music. She loves to practice music and perform at concerts during her free time.
